TRADA Technology Ltd has published a revised edition of its Wood Information Sheet Non-destructive testing.

Among the techniques for non-destructive testing of timber in buildings discussed in the revised edition of the Wood Information Sheet are visual inspection, hammer sounding, sniffer dogs, ultrasonics and stress waves.

The sheet will be of interest to architects, engineers, surveyors and building inspectors.

Non-destructive testing can be invaluable when faced with conservation, restoration or repair of timbers in buildings.

It can otherwise be difficult to demonstrate to controlling authorities that existing structures and components meet modern regulatory requirements.

Moreover, use of the latest codes may not reflect the true load bearing capacity of components that have performed well for many years.

The new Wood Information Sheet outlines some solutions.

TRADA members and registered users can view the contents on the askTRADA website at www.trada.co.uk (visit the Library).

Members may download a PDF file of Non-destructive testing free-of-charge.

To purchase a copy, please telephone the Publications Department on 01494 569602 or email info@trada.co.uk.

Cost £5.00 plus postage and packing.
