TRADA Technology Ltd has published a revised edition of its Wood Information Sheet Non-destructive testing.
Three main types are currently in use: water-borne preservatives, micro-emulsions and organic solvent-based preservatives.
From June 2003 creosote has been restricted to 'professional and industrial use' and may not be used inside buildings, in toys, playgrounds, garden furniture or any other application where there is a risk of frequent contact with the skin.
