Glenn Howells to speak at In Touch with
Timber
Glenn Howells will present a case study of the Savill Building in Windsor Great Park at TRADA's In Touch With Timber conference next May.
Award-winning architect Glenn Howells will present a case study of the Savill Building in Windsor Great Park, which recently scooped Gold at this year's Wood Awards, at TRADA's In Touch With Timber conference next May This will be TRADA's third In Touch With Timber event, aimed at architects, engineers and other construction industry professionals, and it will take place on 1st May 2007 at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in Westminster

Eleco Wins TRADA-sponsored Award
Eleco plc has won the TRADA-sponsored 'Best Technical Information Support Award' for its Ecojoist timber engineering technical manual on CD-ROM.
With Craig White of White Design in the chair, Meredith Bowles of Mole Architects will discuss his commitment to passive technologies, natural materials and energy efficient construction systems, including the glulam-framed studio he designed for Cambridge University's Department of Architecture.
In 'Wooden tops', Roddy Langmuir of Edward Cullinan Architects will share his vision for using wood more imaginatively, with a look at two new 'timber roofs' in public projects, 'set against scepticism in the UK about the wonderful potential of engineered timber'.
Martin Wood of Bryden Wood Associates, specialists in prefabrication and industrial design, will complete the pre-lunch session with a lively discussion on component design.
As in previous years, delegates will have a choice of three out of six workshops in the afternoon.
Topics will include: Achieving sustainability in timber design, Restoration of timber buildings, Top tips for timber frame, Eurocode 5, Large timber structures and Modern timber details.
An exhibition of timber products, including flooring, timber preservation, timber related software, timber engineering hardware, engineered wood products and timber frame construction, will be staged throughout the day.
