TRADA, the Timber Research and Development Association, supported by the Forestry Commission and Scottish Enterprise, will stage an evening CPD event on the use of green oak in construction.

The seminar will take place on Monday 21st May 2007 at the Grange Manor Hotel, Grangemouth, from 16:30pm - 20:00pm.

The event is aimed at designers, specifiers, engineers and carpenters and follows the successful publication of Green oak in construction by TRADA Technology , in partnership with the Forestry Commission and Scottish Enterprise.

As TRADA Information and Business Services Manager Jeremy Vibert commented, 'There has been a rise in popularity of building frames constructed from green oak.

It has formed the structure of many historic buildings and offers tremendous potential for creating modern buildings of outstanding beauty'.

The CPD event has been designed both to inspire and to provide technical information on the use of green oak in construction and will include:.

- Demonstrations of the production, grading and supply of green oak beams by the Association of Scottish Hardwood Sawmillers.

- A technical seminar on 'Green oak in construction', delivered by Peter Ross, consultant to Arup and co-author of Green oak in construction.

TRADA members are offered one free place per member company (book in advance).
