TRADA has launched new service on its website, to address 'Frequently Asked Questions' (FAQ's) on a range of topics.

The first is timber grading Through its telephone advisory service, TRADA handles 6,000 enquiries a year and, according to Marketing Manager Karen Tipping, it is easy to see a pattern developing

'The same questions arise time and time again, on a whole range of topics, including grading, cladding, timber frame, window design and flooring.

Members and others will benefit from being able to find the answers quickly online'.

The first of the new FAQ areas on timber grading addresses key issues such as:.

- How is timber graded?.

- Is sapwood permitted in structural timber.

- Can graded timber be unmarked?.

Ms Tipping added, 'The TRADA website carries a wealth of technical information, but our experience shows that at times people need more of a snapshot than a detailed briefing.

Through our sister companies we have already launched FAQ's on timber fire doors and air tightness testing and these have proved immensely popular.

We believe that the new TRADA FAQ's on cladding will prove equally successful'.

By directing a large proportion of enquiries to the new FAQ area on the website, the TRADA advisory service will be able to handle more enquiries by telephone, which is another huge benefit for members, said Ms Tipping.
