Concerns over the condition of the various buildings' flat roofs led the property manager to call on the expertise of Tremco and one of its approved contractors, Premier Roofing.
The manufacturer's technical representative organised a Thermocore survey to be carried out on all of the roofs - in addition to visual inspections - leading to Tremco drawing up a 15 year maintenance plan and recommending immediate attention for the roof of the sports hall.
The Thermocore survey confirmed that the roof was saturated and needed replacing rather than any further remedial work.
The contract included installing new domed roof-lights.
The 20 year guarantee on the Hi-Therm system is of particular importance to the client.
Premier's operatives stripped back the existing built-up felt system and the saturated fibreboard beneath to reveal the hall's metal deck.
This was primed and a vapour barrier installed before a 70 mm layer of Tremtherm 27 insulation was employed to bring the energy performance of the building up close to contemporary standards.
The contract was completed by the installation of the elastomeric underlayer and terracotta coloured cap sheet, both bedded in Thermastic adhesive which give the Hi-Therm system outstanding resistance to wind uplift as well as water penetration.
Tremco's Elastomeric Torch-on Felt was also utilised to execute details around the parapets and new roof-lights.
