Rapid strength is combined with excellent adhesion characteristics and all round flexibility to make the latest smoothing mortar from Tremco suitable for a variety of applications Treadfast Unispeed has been formulated as a blend of cement and modified polymers, mixed with graded aggregates, to produce a product suitable for building up levels on concrete or sand/cement screeds

Able to be applied to substrates with greater than 75 per cent relative humidity, it is ideal for the preparation of subfloors prior to the application of damp proof membranes - such as Treadfast One Coat Universal and Treadfast Fastrak Universal.

Being protein free, Treadfast Unispeed further complies with HTM 61 requirements.

The cleaning and preparation of the substrate should include the removal of any surface hardeners and other contaminants though, importantly, Unispeed does not require a primer to achieve excellent bond strength across porous surfaces.

Supplied in 25kg plastic lined sacks, the modified cement mortar can be premixed with clean aggregate to help level depressions of up to 75 mm depth.

The minimum thickness of application is 6 mm.

The mortar is smoothed with either a float or a trowel and remains workable for up to 12 minutes; however, because of its rapid setting characteristics, only a quantity sufficient to be applied in four minutes should be mixed.

This can be done by hand or using an electric drill with suitable attachment while all tools can be cleaned using plain water immediately after use.

Gain of strength is exponential with a figure of 28 N/mm2 being achieved within 24 hours.

The 28 day compressive strength will exceed 50 N/mm2 while the tensile strength is also good with a figure of 2.46 N/mm2 being achieved after one week.

The cured mortar has a density of 2,220 kg per cubic metre.

If any potential user is uncertain about the application of Unispeed or its suitability for specific situations they should contact Tremco's technical advisory service for further information or to arrange a moisture content test.
