Tremco's Tretodek Hybuild and Rapide HB Systems have been specified for the second phase of refurbishment work on a prominent multi-storey car park in Blackpool.

Tremco's Tretodek Hybuild and Rapide HB Systems have been specified for the second phase of refurbishment work on a prominent multi-storey car park in Blackpool, following the successful completion of an earlier contract.

The car park is owned by Blackpool Council and is in the shadow of the famous tower, climbed by thousands of tourists each day.

High traffic volumes had caused significant wear to the surfaces and prompted the council's engineering department to take remedial action.

The Tremco systems were initially specified for use on the lower decks due to their high performance characteristics, then used again for the upper intermediate deck and top deck due to the fact they could also offer a very good finished appearance in such a visible location.

Angus Ridge of the main contractor, Dew Construction, comments: "We installed some three to four thousand square metres of Tretodek Hybuild and Rapide HB across the top deck and Level 2 of the car park.

The specification from Blackpool Council's engineers department was for the Tremco system 'or similar' and as we were already keen to work with the manufacturer there was no question of proposing an alternative.

"The contract went very well and we now have an on-going contract with Tremco as their approved applicators".

In addition to being ideally suited to exposed situations on the top levels of car parks, Tretodek Hybuild is also frequently specified for ramps and other heavy wear areas.

Rapide HB, meanwhile, offers a fast-track tough and durable solution for intermediate levels.
