Tremco's Treadfast One Coat Universal damp proof membrane and Treadfast Unitex underlayment chosen for Dundee research facility
The construction of new laboratories at Dundee University has involved extensive use of Tremco's Treadfast One Coat Universal damp proof membrane and Treadfast Unitex underlayment.
The specification of the fully compatible products came from MacGregor Flooring as the specialist contractor employed by Sir Robert MacAlpine.
MacGregor's management were confident the Treadfast One Coat Universal was capable of dealing with the relatively high moisture contents in the concrete floor slabs prior to laying a mixture of vinyls and other floorcoverings.
A Director of the flooring specialist, Hamish MacGregor, comments: "This was a new building where we were dealing with power floated concrete floors on four levels.
We regard Tremco Treadfast One Coat Universal as the Rolls Royce of damp proof membranes, and we have used tens of thousands of square metres of the product since it was launched.
"We laid 3,500 square metres of Tarkett Primo sheet vinyl, together with 500 square metres of Forbo Marmoleum and 170 square metres of Tarkett-Marley wood plank - as well as 1200m of Burmatex Mission carpet tiles - in the laboratories, admin areas and main reception".
Treadfast One Coat Universal will form a guaranteed surface damp proof membrane across concrete and sand/cement screed substrates exhibiting RH readings of up to 97 per cent, thereby permitting the early installation of floor finishes.
