New deck surfaced by Tremco illbruck's high performance Rapide waterproofing and wearing course system at a multi-storey car park in Sussex.
The structural engineer on the project was Ward Cole, while Comprehensive Design Architects were involved throughout all the phases.
Thomas Armstrong was the main contractor for the construction of the car park together with the three levels of retail units, with Tornado being the specialist applicator installing the Rapide HB FR 4.5 system.
Tremco illbruck was also involved in working closely with Parksafe Systems whose sensors are to be found at the back of all the 427 parking bays.
The Project Architect for CDA, Alan Bowry, comments: "The steel frame was supplied by Condor Structures and carried precast concrete floor slabs that required an in-situ topping".
"With three levels of shops underneath the car park we could not have any problems of leaks".
"We therefore needed to be sure that the system chosen would offer a long working life and of course a reliable guarantee".
"We went to look at the contract Tremco illbruck has been involved with at Gatwick Airport.
Once we were satisfied with the standard of the work there we put the system forward to the main contractor, Thomas Armstrong who agreed the final specification".
"The finished contract looks very good".
The Parksafe system utilises a series of sensors linked by cables running through the concrete decks to monitor all the vehicles left in the car park.
Any unauthorised movement of the car or even attempted vandalism will then raise the alert with the company's staff who are on site 24 hours a day.
