Outstanding durability, enhanced energy conservation characteristics plus ease of application in the DuraSeal warm edge sealant system from Tremco.
Energy conservation gains with Duraseal
DuraSeal, from from Tremco, is a warm edge flexible spacer system combines sealant, spacer and desiccant that gives excellent resistance to moisture vapour transmission in IG units.
A spokesperson for the company said: "We produce some 400 sealed units each week including a lot of complex shapes.
Previously we employed an aluminium spacer bar system together with a two part polysulphide, but we wanted to update our approach to comply with EN 1279 and the new Part L of the Building Regulations.
"Tremco illbruck's Duraseal offered the ideal means of getting the U-value of the units down through warm edge technology." Duraseal is an innovative all-in-one warm edge spacer system which helps manufacturers achieve lower costs by simplifying the production process.
Higher productivity comes with the reduction in the number of components needed, and better IG unit performance delivers improved thermal insulation and resistance to condensation.
Windows made using Duraseal typically achieve linear thermal transmittance values which are 50% lower than those achieved with aluminium spacer bars.
This can make a significant contribution to reduce U-values and improve window energy ratings.
In addition, Duraseal can help to improve window appearance, with no intrusion into the sightline of the window.
Other benefits include enhanced durability, superior gas retention and the flexibility to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction.
