Tremco illbruck's spacers for Warmseal Windows

Warmseal Windows converted its IG unit production to Tremco illbruck's family of warm edge spacer systems.

The decision was made 18 months ago and sees Warmseal Windows utilise Duraseal for commercial contracts and the higher specification Duralite for domestic replacements.

Simon Flint, technical director, Tremco illbruck confirmed that there were many deciding factors behind the decision to convert from a semi-automatic, dual sealed aluminium spacer bar manufacture utilising a hot melt sealant, to an alternative system that could deliver on many fronts.

Factors included higher productivity without increasing labour and higher thermal performance without increasing IG unit cost.

Investigations were completed on several alternative products and Tremco illbruck's Dura-platform range came out as the best performers in thermal performance, productivity and cost benefits.

They were confirmed as being the only products that would improve the thermal performance without significantly increasing the IG unit cost.

Tremco illbruck's Duralite is an all-in-one warm edge product containing desiccant, sealant and a non-metallic spacer.

Warmseal passed the requirements of EN1279 part 2 first time and are planning the next stage to comply with EN1279 part 3 later in the year to coincide with the changes to the building regulations.

Calculations carried out by Warmseal's profile supplier have confirmed the requirements to achieve an A, B and C WER rating.
