The Concrete Centre, in collaboration with Imperial College London, is to hold a two-day Winter School with Concrete at Imperial College.

Winter School with Concrete at Imperial College on Monday 17th to Tuesday 18th December 2008.

The two-day workshop will provide a comprehensive overview of designing concrete framed buildings.

In particular, it will enable graduates and young engineers to learn the latest developments in design of reinforced concrete construction (including hotel, offices, residential developments, retail and hospitals) and to work with colleagues to develop effective concrete solutions under the supervision of qualified structural engineers.

The workshop will provide valuable assistance for sitting the chartered membership examination of the Institution of Structural Engineers.

The programme includes lectures on BS 8110 and Eurocode 2, finite element analysis, different concrete construction approaches including flat slab, post-tensioned floors and hybrid construction, and RC spreadsheets, pro-active workshops and a presentation on how stability and robustness are achieved on real projects.

The cost is GBP250 plus VAT.

This includes overnight accommodation in a 4-star hotel and all meals.
