Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 25, 2008

The Concrete Centre is to hold a series of breakfast seminars examining how concrete and masonry construction can meet the requirements of The Code for Sustainable Homes.

Breakfast seminars: Thursday 18th September 2008 and Thursday 6th November 2008 from 08.30 hrs at The Building Centre, Store Street, London.

The Code for Sustainable Homes presents considerable challenges for housing design, and with regards to energy requires what is effectively a step change in thermal performance.

Central to this is the need for enhanced insulation and reduced air leakage.

The seminar will focus on fabric and energy issues and highlight a number of concrete and masonry solutions.

Key areas covered include: air leakage; wall thickness; enhanced insulation; the requirement for renewable energy.

Case studies on how designers have delivered sustainable construction to the Code requirements will be provided.

Attendance is free.
