Concrete Centre launches thermal calculation tool

A The Concrete Centre product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Feb 2, 2010

The Concrete Centre is launching a tool at Ecobuild, designed for calculating the thermal properties of floors and walls.

The tool will support the 2010 introduction of thermal mass in SAP.

SAP is the Government's Standard Assessment Procedure for energy rating of dwellings.

SAP forms part of the UK national methodology for calculation of the energy performance of buildings and for demonstration of compliance with Part L1 of the Building Regulations.

Developed in partnership with Arup, the new tool will help designers to assess and optimise the thermal mass provided by the building fabric and provide an indication of its performance in both summer and winter.

To help designers developed thermally efficient solutions, The Concrete Centre will be presenting a seminar: 'Thermal Mass and its Relevance in Low Energy Design', as part of Ecobuild's seminar programme on at 11.00am, Wednesday 3 March.

In addition, the latest sustainability performance data and performance targets for the concrete industry will be announced at Ecobuild.

The concrete industry is the only construction materials sector to have such information readily available for clients and designers.

The Concrete Centre can be found at Stand 20/20 at Ecobuild.
