Award-winning Aberdeen projects
exhibiting at RGU

Colin Jeffrey (21) from Peterculter is runner-up and Hailey Bell (19) from Montrose, Anstice Whitehouse (22) from Oldmeldrum and Rick Burney (21), Sarah Frood (23), and Calum Hill (21) from Aberdeen were commended for their work.
All students are now seeking employment for their practical training year.
This year's project was to design new premises for Peacock Visual Arts, presently located in an alley off the Castlegate and split between two buildings.

Paving the way for degree study
Higher national students in four construction subjects will now be able to progress to degree courses under an agreement between UHI and The Robert Gordon University (RGU) in Aberdeen.
Architecture lecture on 'Working with Artists'
Mackie Ramsay Taylor Lecture Series 2007 at RGU's Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment continues with talk entitled 'Working with Artists'.
This is currently a barrier to effectiveness and severely inhibits audience development and trading activities.
The hypothetical site is on Queen Street and is in the centre of Aberdeen.
The project requirement was to produce strong city architecture plans and quality urban space.
Raju's winning scheme is on three floors with a part basement.
The entrance is a dramatic twelve metre high foyer area which is the heart of the building and links all levels and activities.
The form is wrapped with a simple mesh skin on to which images of artwork could be printed or sandblasted.
An area is provided for small outdoor performances and the cafe/bar extends into a landscaped terrace.
This exhibition launches a year-long programme of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the School.
It will run from 18 - 30 May and will showcase the work from 1st, 2nd and 3rd year students from architecture, interior architecture, surveying, construction design and management, and architectural technology.
The exhibition, which is open daily from 10am - 4pm, will include displays of structural models developed by the students and studio projects.
There will also be live images from the Castlegate Pavilion where RGU's Professor Jonathan Woolf has designed a 'Monkey Pavilion' as an information point for the Six Cities Design Festival.
The second exhibition is the School's Degree Show 2007 which runs from 15 - 19 June, the same day as the Gray's School of Art Degree Show, which sees RGU's Garthdee campus transform into a hub of creativity.
The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture and Built Environment Degree Show 2007 will exhibit the work of graduating students from architecture, surveying, construction design and management and architectural technology.
Work from across the disciplines will be displayed throughout the School including projections, displays of schemes for the Aberdeen Civic Medal, a design competition sponsored by the city, computer generated visualisation, photographic exhibitions and study trip images.
Further events will be held throughout the year including an alumni exhibition in the autumn and the launch of a commemorative book written by RGU's Jim Fiddes to chart the School's history over the last 50 years.
