National Heat Pump Awards gain industry backing
Industry leaders and organisations are endorsing and giving strong backing to the National Heat Pump Awards 2011.
Launched to reward and celebrate the best products, projects and professionals across the expanding heat pumps sector, the aims of the Awards have been echoed by industry leaders and organisations across the sector.
Cedric Sloan, director general of FETA, said: "Due to the persistence and commitment of the members of the FETA Heat Pump Association, this valued technology has been recognised as an indispensable part of the UK renewables' strategy".
He added: "The Awards arrive at just the right time to highlight the positive contribution that heat pumps will make to our low carbon future".
Robert Higgs OBE, chief executive of the Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association (HVCA), said: "The HVCA is committed to assisting in the achievement of the UK's carbon reduction targets by promoting the use of energy efficient technology".
"The National Heat Pump Awards have the potential significantly to raise the profile of products and systems that can deliver genuinely low-carbon solutions".
Chris Ingram, Chairman of UHMA, the trade association for surface heating and cooling, welcomed the awards: "The underfloor heating industry fully supports the National Heat Pump Awards because they reward excellence in efficient heating systems".
"And it doesn't get more efficient than a heat pump and underfloor heating, with efficiencies up to 30 per cent higher than with low temperature radiators".
Roger Webb, director of the Heating and Hotwater Industries Council, said: "Heat pumps are growing in importance as well as other renewables, and will be part of the long-term future vision as well as other heating solutions to help deliver a low carbon technology for 2050".
The new annual awards provide a national showcase for the latest developments in this vital and rapidly developing area of sustainable technology.
Heat pumps capture free energy from the environment - from the air, ground or water - and harness it to provide low-cost, low-carbon heating for homes, commercial premises and industry.
Heat pumps are many times more efficient than conventional gas or electric appliances, dramatically cutting running costs and safeguarding the environment.
The award's patron organisation, the Heat Pump Association (HPA), has been joined by a growing list of organisations officially backing the event, and by a growing list of leading brand sponsors.
The awards will take place on 23 June, 2011, at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in the heart of Birmingham.
The gala black-tie evening at only GBP145 plus VAT will include a pre-dinner drinks reception, a sumptuous four course dinner, wine at table plus top flight professional presentation with celebrity entertainment.
The closing date for entries is 4 March, 2011.
The event is being organised on behalf of the industry by the publishers of Heat Pumps Today, ACR Today and Consulting Engineer magazine.
