Total Electrical Training set to campaign for greater take up of Part P registration.

Electrical training specialist, Total Electrical Training, is set to use this year's Elex exhibitions as a platform to campaign for increased levels of compliance with Part P of the Building Regulations.

According to the last set of figures from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister there are 27,202 individuals registered with a scheme, from an estimated universe of 110,000.

Total Electrical training will be exhibiting at all three Elex shows.

The exhibitions are being held at the Rioch Arena in Coventry on August 14 and 15 (stand I13 and J13) and at Sandown Park in Surrey on the 5 and 6 of December (stand 81).

Total Electrical Training staff will be on hand at the shows to discuss the range of training courses provided by the company.

These include City and Guilds testing and maintenance modules as well as domestic installation refreshers and Part P courses including City and Guilds 2381 - the 16th edition IEE regulations.

"Levels of registration aren't yet high enough," explained Chris Atkins, managing director of Total Electrical Training.

"Furthermore, as a City and Guilds training provider we see an accurate cross section of the industry".

"This includes a significant group of tradespeople who don't have the essential English, maths and electrical skills needed to install and test safely".

"However, I believe that in the UK we do have a great group of professional electricians, plumbers and heating installers who want to deliver the best service to their clients".

"At Total Electrical Training we want to see every relevant tradesperson meet the minimum technical competency that Part P scheme providers demand then move on to registering with a scheme".

"Let's hope this year's Elex shows can go some way towards achieving this goal.".
