Total Electrical launches PV installation training

A Total Electrical Training product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Mar 18, 2010

Total Electrical Training is launching a training programme for electricians in solar PV installation in line with the Feed-In Tariff programme.

Energy saving, cutting the carbon footprint, and above all, sustainability is currently receiving a huge amount of media attention.

Many of us are eager to implement changes that will make a real difference.

Until recently, one of the main barriers to make such changes seems to have been a lack of awareness of, and access to suitable technology.

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems are now a very real possibility for consumer and industry alike.

At the end of 2006, total installed capacity was said to be up 31 per cent on the previous year.

With greater public awareness and with the Government announcements on Feed-In Tariffs, and companies now actively marketing PV panels, the demand for specialists in the field is forecast to substantially increase.

In California, solar power is being harnessed in industries as diverse as winemaking to aircraft manufacturing.

Wine producer Fetzer has been a pioneer in sustainability, renewable energy and green building.

The company installed photovoltaic panels in its admin offices in 1999, and went on to install a further 75,000 sq feet of panels in 2006.

The panels generate up to 1.1 million kwhr per year - providing 80 per cent of the energy needed to run its entire bottling plant.
