Two new contracts have been won by the new Totty Building Services regional team in Manchester.
We were keen to find ways of managing the site that would both facilitate ease of access and efficient work for our own staff and minimise disruption for local businesses and their customers." The result has been excellent progress on the site, which is running to schedule, as well as an excellent response from local businesses.
Thanks to the consultation process, Totty has been able to work around local businesses' deliveries and parking requirements, ensuring that everyone can operate 'business as usual'.
Comments Sandy Hawkins, Manager of local JD Weatherpoons outlet, The Winter Gardens: "We rely on regular deliveries to ensure that we can offer customers a good variety of beers and fresh produce on our menus.
Totty have worked round our delivery requirements to ensure that there is always enough space for delivery vehicles to park and unload, we have been delighted with the way they have taken our interests into account." Local bespoke bed store, To Catch A Dream, has also been impressed by Totty's approach.
Comments Frank Nickerson, Director of To Catch A Dream: "We expected some disruption from a construction project so close to our premises but Totty's efforts to minimise the impact on our business have been very impressive.
They check on us regularly to ensure that their workforce is continuing to deliver the considerate approach they promised us before work began." Totty has signed the Harrogate House site up to the Considerate Contractor's charter.
The contractor has recently been commended by the Considerate Contractors Group for registering 101 of its sites with the charter.
The charter stipulates that contractors should do their utmost to minimise the disruption and general inconvenience sometimes associated with large-scale building developments.
