Northern-based main contractor, Totty Construction, has secured a contract to construct apartments, penthouses, city houses and offices in Newcastle.

The high profile Lime Sq scheme for developers Metier and Howard Holdings, is due for completion in September 2005

The new £22 million development features three blocks of 104, one and two bed-roomed apartments, up to five-storeys in height, over a basement car park.

Additionally, the facade of an existing stable block on site is being retained to create four city houses and three penthouses.

A former electricity sub station at the front of the scheme is being converted to form 5,000 sq ft (465 sq m) of office space.

Philip Brierley, chairman of Totty Construction, commented: "Lime Sq.

is a significant mixed-use development in Newcastle, and represents the largest scheme that Totty has carried out within the city.

Totty continues to build an impressive portfolio of clients, working on high profile projects within the residential sector, across the North of England, which since 2000 has generated some £175 million worth of business.".
