Totty Construction, the northern-based main contractor, has been awarded the final phase of the high profile Brewery Wharf residential development, by Barratt Leeds.
The Built In Quality Awards are now in their sixth year and recognise the quality and diversity of construction projects in Manchester, from major commercial developments to new homes and shop fit-outs.
Award winners have been selected by a judging panel, which assessed the work carried out on individual construction sites against a range of criteria, including site safety, speed of fault rectification, compliance with Building Regulations, access for people with disabilities, regeneration of derelict land, the refurbishment and use of existing buildings, and consistency of construction standards.
The work at North Manchester General Hospital saw Totty Building Services construct a single storey new pathology laboratory between three existing buildings on site.
The project is part of the Pennine Acute NHS Trust's ongoing programme to further improve and update its Pathology provision.
Councillor Neil Swannick, Executive Member for Planning and Environment, said: "The Built In Quality Awards recognise the very best construction projects in Manchester".
"The Awards have become highly sought-after and inspire all those working in the city's construction industry to new heights".
"It has been a real privilege to present the awards to the builders and contractors who are making a vital contribution to our city" Philip Ryder, managing director of Totty Building Services, commented: "We are delighted to receive such an industry accolade for our work at the pathology laboratory, since this acknowledges the huge importance we place on quality and excellence at every stage of the build process".
"We have fostered a strong working relationship with the Pennine Acute NHS Trust over a number of years and are justifiably proud to have been involved with this award winning project.".
