ISG Totty Building has been awarded a GBP400K project by the University of Leeds to carry out a fast-track refurbishment programme at the Michael Sadler building.

Working across the first three floors, the contractor will strip out, reconfigure and modernise facilities in this first, of three planned phases, to enhance the learning environment for students and staff Lecture rooms, staff offices and teaching areas across the basement, lower ground and ground floors will be refurbished over the 10-week programme, which is due to commence mid-July

ISG Totty Building will install new floor coverings and suspended ceilings throughout, renovate feature plaster ceilings and upgrade existing mechanical and electrical services.

Welfare facilities will also be modernised during the project and all work will be carried out whilst the building remains in occupation.

Paul Clarkson, construction director at ISG Totty Building, commented: "The business continues to build upon its strong relationships with key regional educational institutions, providing a highly flexible and skilled service offering".

"Our latest scheme for the University of Leeds demands an ability to work effectively within a live environment, whilst reducing the overall construction programme to minimise disruption for the client".

"As we observe a growing trend for such fast-track projects, successful contractors need to demonstrate highly flexible working practices, allied to careful planning and robust programme management.".
