Seminar to enable business leaders to understand the real terrorist threat, relate that to their operations, and take steps to mitigate the risk.

Three of the UK's leading security and counter-terrorism consultancies are joining together to host a seminar to enable business leaders to understand the real terrorist threat, relate that to their operations, and take steps to mitigate the risk Sir John Stevens, the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, said earlier this year that it was only a matter of time before the UK was targeted by terrorists

The recent atrocities in Madrid and Bali, coupled with the attack on the British Embassy in Istanbul last November, demonstrate how vulnerable western interests and major cities are to extremist terrorist groups.

Events of 11 September 2001 led governments and high-risk industries, such as airlines, to invest heavily in defence of their assets, and to deter terrorists.

However, this has in effect deflected the threat onto other less well-protected, albeit just as valuable, targets.

All western businesses, located both in the UK and overseas, need to evaluate the threats to them and their assets and to take appropriate actions.

This seminar will enable those with responsibility for business continuity, securing assets and protecting people, to relate the current threat to their scenario, and begin the process of understanding the nature of that threat and the options available.

TPS Consult, one of the UK's largest security and counter-terrorism consultancies, Risk to Opportunity (R2O), an enterprise risk management specialist, and Durable Berkeley, a window film supplier, are staging the seminar on Tuesday 29 June 2004 at 3M in Bracknell, Berkshire.

It will run for the morning and is free of charge.

The keynote speech to outline the current threat will be given by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office.

This will be followed by Chris Bowes, from TPS Consult, who will relate that threat to the UK today.

Chris has over 20 years' experience in security and counter terrorism.

TPS Consult has provided design advice for many notable public buildings both in the UK and abroad, including all British Embassies through a framework agreement for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Other speakers include Chris Jaques of R2O and Peter Barnes, from Durable Berkeley.

Durable is Europe's longest established window film Company and has been working with the Government's key security bodies for the past 30 years, including the blast testing of products and holding term contracts for over 20 years.

Further information can be obtained from Anna Hutton, TPS Consult.
