A 'Managing The Real Threat Of Terrorism' seminar is being organised by TPS Consult, the UK's largest security and counter-terrorism consultancy, and Durable, a blast-protection window film installer.

The speakers at the second seminar for business people on managing the real threat of terrorism, being held on 9 November 2004, have been confirmed The seminar, being staged at 3M's headquarters in Bracknell, Berkshire, is being organised by TPS Consult, the UK's largest security and counter-terrorism consultancy, and Durable, one of the leading installers of blast-protection window film in Europe

Roger Davies of Hazard Management Solutions, currently retained by the FBI, US State and local bomb squads, the US Defence Intelligence Agency, the UK Defence Intelligence staff and Scotland Yard, will give a presentation examining terrorist methods, looking at the latest terrorist trends and tactics, and highlighting the impacts to security.

He will be followed Chris Bowes, from TPS Consult, who will relate that threat to the UK today.

Chris, who has over 20 years' experience in security and counter terrorism, recently gave a similar presentation to the Australian Security Industry Association (ASIAL) at its 2004 conference in Sydney.

TPS Consult has provided design advice for many notable public buildings both in the UK and abroad, including all British Embassies through a framework agreement for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

David Cook will introduce 3M's biometric identification systems which can ensure the secure issue and protection of identity documents such as passports, national identity cards and drivers licenses, as well as provide authentication of travellers and their documents to enhance border security, and provide protection of products and brands from counterfeiting and tampering.

Ian Penfold, UK sales manager at Durable, will show how glazing can be protected using 3M 'anti-shatter window film'.

He will explain that in the event of an explosion, up to 90% of injuries and collateral damage can be caused by flying glass.

He will go on to suggest that organisations can benefit from a complete 'glass audit' indicating the specification of existing glazing, highlighting vulnerabilities and detailing costs for remedial action.

The seminar will be concluded by John Williams, from the HSBC central security team, who will give the client's perspective.

The seminar follows the success of the first, in June, when more than 60 delegates were briefed on the current threats by the National Counter Terrorism Security Office.
