Brian Heavin has joined the Edinburgh office of TPS Consult as a graduate architectural technologist.

TPS staff numbers at its two Scottish offices, Glasgow and Edinburgh, have more than doubled in the last four years increasing from 39 in 2000 to 80 in 2004 Brian completed a three-year diploma at Cork Institute of Technology in Ireland and a one-year BSc honours degree course in architectural technology from Napier University, Edinburgh

He said: "I first discovered TPS Consult when I was researching for my dissertation - The Construction of Buildings and their Defence against Terrorist Attack.

Security and counter-terrorism is one of its specialist areas, and TPS is one of the largest consultancies in the UK in this field.

I mentioned TPS to some of my lecturers at the time and they all informed me that TPS were a good company to work for and a well-respected practice." Since joining TPS Consult, Brian has been set to work on a number of projects including the tender for a £5 million design and build health and education building for the Scottish Prison Service.

In his spare time, Brian enjoys running, tennis, swimming, gym and the usual socialising with colleagues and friends.

Katrina Johnson, regional director, was pleased that Brian had joined TPS Consult: "He is a bright and enthusiastic graduate and will be a vital member of the team here in Edinburgh, expanding on the skills we already offer to our established client base.".
