TPS senior security adviser, Barry Walker, has been asked to set up Certified Protection Professional (CPP) training courses in Norway.

TPS senior security adviser, Barry Walker, has been asked to set up Certified Protection Professional (CPP) training courses in Norway CPP, which is administered by ASIS, is the world's leading security management qualification

It demonstrates an in-depth knowledge in areas such as management, physical and electronic security, personnel security, investigations, information security and law.

ASIS International, which was originally founded in 1955 as the American Society for Industrial Security, now has more than 35,000 members worldwide.

The UK chapter is the largest outside the USA, with nearly 700 members.

To be eligible to take the CPP examination, candidates must have at least nine years' experience in the industry, including three in security management.

Barry certainly has the credentials for the job - he has over 35 years' experience in the sector.

Since he became chief instructor for ASIS in the UK in 2001, he has enhanced teaching and resources to achieve a consistent 85 per cent pass rate - a level not equalled anywhere else in the ASIS organisation's 30-odd regions worldwide, nor in the US where the average exam mark is 45 per cent.

Barry commented: "The formula I have introduced here in the UK obviously works, and I am hoping to duplicate it in Norway".

"I will be liaising with the new CPP representative there about training and examinations." Barry is a key member of the security and counter-terrorism division at TPS, the largest such team in the UK.

He contributed to the firm being winner of the "Best Security Consultant" category in the SMT Security Excellence Awards in 2001, and finalists in 2002, 2003 and 2004.

With over GBP 20m of security projects under way, TPS is consistently at the forefront of its field.
