George Watson, Managing Director of Donaldson Timber Engineering has taken over as Chairman of the Trussed Rafter Association

George Watson, Managing Director of Donaldson Timber Engineering has taken over as the Chairman of the Trussed Rafter Association (TRA), as Mike Beale of Gang Nail Systems retires from the position George has worked at Donaldson's for 28 years and established the first operation in Scotland

Donaldson's, which has eight operations, is now the largest trussed rafter manufacturer in the UK and Ireland.

George comments, "As Chairman of the TRA, I plan to make full use of the expertise of our technical committee to ensure that trussed rafters move with the times and continue to offer the marketplace a competitive and flexible roofing solution".

At one time, all fabricators tried to ignore health and safety.

However, we are very fortunate that, as an association, we decided to grasp this topic and face it head on.

By working with the Health and Safety Executive, we are able to come up with practical solutions for our industry.

"It is disappointing that some companies within our industry are not members of our Association".

"It is not expensive to join and the criteria for membership is not just red tape but is there to protect our industry".

"I hope that, in this coming year, those non-members will see the advantages of the TRA and come on board.".
