Entries are invited from water authorities, utilities, industrial water users including civil engineering companies and suppliers within the water sector.

The water industry impacts on many process industries as well as other utilities In recognition of the changing aspects to the industry, the IWEX Innovation Awards are now open to all companies regardless of industry sector

Entries are invited from water authorities, utilities, industrial water users such as pharmaceutical, food and drink or ink manufacturers through to civil engineering companies and suppliers within the water sector.

The Awards are a celebration of the successes achieved in the water, utility and water-using industries will be the focus of attention of the re-styled IWEX Gala Evening, to be held on Wednesday 12th November, in the elegant surroundings of the Imperial Suite of the National Motorcycle Museum, close to the NEC, Birmingham.

The IWEX Innovation Awards 2003 cover six specific categories relative to all aspects of operations, marketing and management within both the water and other utility sectors.

For 2003 they have been re-structured to reflect the changing profile of the industry, in particular including an emphasis on both multi-utility focused businesses and the international scope of many companies.

The categories for entry are * Best Distribution Hardware Technology * Contributions to Environment and Sustainability * International Markets Award * Most Effective Monitoring and Control System * Most Innovative and Effective Multi-Utility Service * Innovative Processes Technology * Outstanding Individual The seventh award will be the inaugural Outstanding Individual Award that will be awarded to an individual in recognition of their service to the industry.

The recipient will be the first member of the IWEX Hall of Fame.

The judging panel, under the chairmanship of Phil Alsop, Editor of Wet News brings a wealth of experience in the water and utility industries, and comprise David Neil-Gallacher of British Water, David Hellier of the GWINTO, Tom Stephenson of Cranfield University's School of Water Sciences, Carol Hickman of the SBWWI, Paul Reiter of the IWA, Nick Reeves of the CIWEM, Simon Doggett of DEFRA and Richard Hardiman of Trade Partners UK.

Timetable Closing Date for Entries 1st September 2003 Shortlist announced - end of September Awards Dinner - 12 November 2003 The shortlist will be announced in September, and the presentations will be made at The IWEX Gala Evening, to be held on Wednesday 12th November in the elegant surroundings of the Imperial Suite of the National Motorcycle Museum, close to the NEC.

Speaking for Turret RAI, the organisers of IWEX, Rob Lozowski said, "It is our intention to give the water industry a quality event befitting the status it deserves.

In addition to providing an ideal opportunity to entertain guests and network with colleagues in the industry, the Awards Presentation will give an insight into the high levels of professional development of which we should all be very proud." The Awards Presentation will include an exciting audiovisual element, which will illustrate the work of all winners and commended entrants.
