TrustMark has approved three new scheme operators: Dulux Select Decorators Scheme, Checkatrade and BM TRADA Certification .

This brings the total number of approved scheme operators to 14, which is almost double the size of the scheme this time last year, and allows another 2,500 firms to join TrustMark over coming weeks.

Dulux Select Decorators Scheme, run by ICI Paints, is the first commercial organisation to become a TrustMark approved scheme operator.

The Dulux Select Decorators Scheme was set up to raise and maintain standards for painters and decorators, as well providing them with training and other business support.

It has more than 1,000 member firms, all of whom have been fully assessed by industry specialists to ensure that their work is of a high quality.

Dinny Court, Customer Marketing Manager for ICI, says: "We welcome the opportunity to work with TrustMark which encourages consumers to use professional tradesmen to undertake domestic repair, decoration and improvement work".

"We feel that working together will strengthen and build upon the Dulux Select Decorator homeowner proposition of peace of mind decorating service and it will continue to raise standards throughout the industry".

Checkatrade offer the consumer vital information about a trader before they decide to use them.

All Checkatrade trade members are vetted, and then with continuous interaction with trader's previous customers, Checkatrade is able to offer the consumer continuously changing comments and scores out of ten on all their trade members.

Checkatrade has seen significant membership growth over recent years, and expects to bring more than 1,000 registered firms into TrustMark.

Kevin Byrne, Managing Director of Checkatrade, says: "We joined TrustMark to give credibility to Checkatrade and help solve the rogue trader problem in the UK.

As a company, we are dependent on the quality of the traders we promote, so it is very important to be able to work with TrustMark and the Government- endorsed standards to help ensure the best tradespeople get the recognition they deserve." BM TRADA Certification is one of the leading independent UKAS - accredited certification bodies for the construction industry.

Established in 1974, BM TRADA will operate a scheme to cover all building sectors of TrustMark, offering a route into the scheme for commercial organisations and other groups of trades not affiliated to any specific trade association.

Matthew Southgate, who manages the scheme for BM TRADA, says: "BM TRADA has many years' experience within the construction industry".

"We are confident that our experience will help both contractor and consumer, to ensure that TrustMark gains recognition as an authoritative stamp of approval on local firms.".
