Travis Perkins opens first Renewable Energy Centre

A Travis Perkins product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 20, 2007

Travis Perkins opens its first dedicated renewable energy centre in Chelmsford to support the trade in offering renewable energy products.

The centre offers energy saving products and technologies, along with specialist advice to support the trade in using and promoting renewable energy solutions.

With around 27 percent* of the UK's carbon emissions resulting directly from the home, the UK construction industry is continuously looking for new technologies to help reduce the carbon footprint of buildings and the new centre in Chelmsford will help the trade to achieve this goal.

The Chelmsford centre features working displays and demonstrations of renewable energy sources including solar energy systems, ground source heat pumps, air source heat pumps and water catchment systems.

In-branch advice is available from dedicated members of staff to support the trade in specifying the right product for the job.

Jez Cutler, group environment manager, Travis Perkins, comments: "The desire to use eco-friendly building products is huge, both from builders and end-users".

"However, as with any new technology, the trade needs advice on how to correctly specify and install the product to ensure that targets of lower CO2 emissions and energy bills are achieved".

"Our Chelmsford team is able to offer expert advice as well as recommending training if necessary".

John Burman, plumbing and heating regional product manager, Travis Perkins, adds: "Travis Perkins is committed to providing specialist advice and the latest products to the trade".

"Many of our customers have been asking for advice on developing energy efficient buildings and we are delighted to provide a range of products able to support this interest".
