Conergy flexes muscles in UK with Thermar

A Thermar product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Nov 27, 2007

Conergy, one of Europe's leading renewable energy businesses, has signed a UK Distribution Partner Agreement with Thermar.

Conergy specialises in the supply of renewable energies technologies and products, and since 1998 has rapidly grown to become one of the leading suppliers of solar energy products in Europe, employing more than 2000 staff worldwide and with an expected turnover of 1.25 billion euros in 2007.

The group's headquarters is in Hamburg, and it currently manufactures at three plants in Germany - Bergheim (near Cologne), Rangsdorf (near Berlin), and Bad Vilbel (near Frankfurt).

Additional plants are located in Lille (France) and Althofen (Austria).

Conergy supplies its markets exclusively via commercial partners and amongst its extensive portfolio of renewable energy solutions are solar thermal systems, heat pumps, wind power systems, solar cooling and photovoltaic products.

Along with its subsidiaries, Conergy is involved in many of the world's major renewable energy schemes including a 20 megawatt photovoltaic plant in South Korea that utilises a sun tracking system.

Other large European schemes include wind farms, solar cooling solutions and biogas plants.

Thermar's founders and Directors include Melvin Hartley and Tony Guglielmucci, who have previously been involved in the UK gas heating market.

"The UK's renewable energy equipment market is still very much in its infancy," comments Melvin Hartley, Thermar Sales and Marketing Director, "and one of our main aims is to play a leading role in introducing the very best and latest high quality equipment and technology for this emerging market.

"Conergy holds a worldwide leadership position in the renewable energy technology market and through Thermar's partnership agreement with the company, we now bring to the UK, a range of technology-leading products already proven in the most established and pioneering renewable energy markets throughout the world".

He adds: "The Thermar team has the industry knowledge and products to provide the training and support which we believe will be pivotal to encouraging installers, specifiers and architects, to embrace these exciting new technologies".

Conergy has developed high performance solar collectors and systems that offer maximum utilisation of solar energy, for new build, refurbishment or redevelopment projects.

Its Solar Thermal solutions include Complete Solar Systems, Flat Plate Collectors, Control Units, Pump Assemblies and Storage Tanks.

Additional solutions available are: Solar Cooling systems, a realistic alternative to traditional commercial air conditioning systems; Solar Space Heating for low-energy buildings that can result in savings of up to 50 percent; and highly efficient Ambient Heat Products from advanced heat pump technology.

Melvin adds: "Conergy's integrated solar thermal products, complement our existing range of high quality biomass heating boilers for wood and wood pellets, which, together with our extensive experience of the UK's heating industry, positions Thermar as a real contender in the specialist field of renewable heating equipment supply in the UK.".
