Tesa double sided PET adhesive tape
Double sided PET adhesive tape developed by tesa has proven itself in a demanding application securing rigid PVC plastic film profiles.
A high performance double sided PET adhesive tape developed by tesa has proven itself in a demanding application securing rigid PVC plastic film profiles with strong elastic memory to foam centred display board for a 7.5 m2 exhibition display Designed to present a 'wall of colour' that would highlight the vibrant colours made possible by using Vynacol colouring technology to colour rigid PVC film the display stopped visitors in their tracks at the recent K2007 plastics trade show in Dusseldorf, Germany

New metallic tape shows its metal
Special tape developed to seal and join metallic products such as aluminium, steel and other metals has been launched by tesa UK.

To meet the tight design and performance brief a CAD based cutting and positioning point system was developed by DWD UK of Sheerness, Kent who produced five 1 x 1.5m panels.
Over 1000 individual items were precision cut and formed from rolls of coloured film supplied.
A 20 mm return was designed into the profiles to allow a convex shape to be formed as well as accommodate the tesa 4965 double sided tape used for mounting.
Fixing had to be sufficiently secure to ensure the panels would withstand transit from the UK to Germany erection and 10 days under the glare of nine 100w spotlights at the trade show subsequent removal and return shipment.
In prototypes a basic paper and board double sided tape was used but the film profiles lifted after only a few days.
Based on a double coated high shear strength modified acrylic adhesive over a PET film tesa 4965 is a 205 um thick transparent adhesive tape with reliable bond performance even to low surface energy substrates.
It is particularly suited to applications where heavy stress and elevated temperatures are present.
It features peel adhesion of up to 12.2 N/cm2 on a wide range of substrates including plastics, aluminium and steel.
Temperature resistance is up to 200degC short term and 100degC long term.
Elongation is 50% and tensile strength is >=30 N/15mm.
In tests at 23degC tesa 4965 has held a 20 x 13 mm stainless steel sample plate weighing 500 g for over 10000 minutes.
Other uses for the tape include mounting ABS plastic parts in the motor industry, rubber/EPDM profiles and mouldings in the furniture industry and mounting battery packs, lenses and touch screens in electronic devices.
