Turner and Townsend act as KPMG project manager
Turner and Townsend project manages KPMG pre-purchase of new office development at 15 Canada Square.
The project will also include the construction of rail infrastructure on an existing rail solum, construction of bridges and other structures, construction of seven new railway stations and the establishment of a regular passenger service.
Turner and Townsend has acted as project manager to Scottish Borders Council, the Promoter of the Waverley Railway Project, since 2000, initially appointed to prepare the Public Transport Fund (PTF) application for the development stage and to assess the alternative procurement methodologies and funding mechanisms for the delivery of the project.
The application included the technical and environmental assessment of the scheme, the economic and social justification for the scheme and an assessment of the scheme capital and operating costs.
Councillor David Parker, Leader of Scottish Borders Council, said: "Today's vote to pass the Waverley Railway Bill for Royal Assent is an historic event, and one of the most important single economic and social decisions to impact on the Borders and Midlothian communities for decades".
David Fox, Director of Project Management at Turner and Townsend and involved in the project for the past five years, praised the decision.
"This is a great result for Scottish Borders Council and the partners Midlothian Council, City of Edinburgh Council and Scottish Enterprise Borders after many years of hard work".
"We now have to ensure that the project is delivered at the highest possible standard and within the timescales and budget specified".
The project team will now work with Transport Scotland to confirm the means of implementing the project within these constraints.
