Turner and Townsend projects pick up total of three awards at Public Private Finance Awards.

International construction and management consultancy Turner and Townsend is involved with three of the 22 winners announced at the Public Private Finance Awards 2006 on Tuesday 23rd May Turner and Townsend continue to provide a raft of specialist services to the winning projects ranging from Outline Business Case, Project and Cost Management and PPP Consultancy

The award winners are: andbull; Best Operational Transport Project: Nottingham Express Transit andbull; Best Operational Local Government Project: Neighbourhood Resource Centres for Older People andbull; Public Sector Joint Working Award: Avon and Somerset Magistrates' Court and Probation Service Speaking of the award winning project at Avon and Somerset Magistrates' Court and Probation Service, the judges at Public Private Finance said: "Public private partnerships inevitably require a complex web of working relationships".

"The Public Sector Joint Working Award is for those authorities that have demonstrated they can use partnerships to work well, not only with private contractors, but also with other parts of the public sector".

"In a close field this year, the Avon and Somerset Magistrates' Courts and Probation Service deal just pipped its competitors to the post".

Mark Emblen of Her Majesty's Courts Service said: "The value of Turner and Townsend's contribution during the construction phase of the scheme cannot be underestimated".

"They have played a pivotal role in ensuring that the Probation Service and Her Majesty's Courts Service are able to deliver significant benefits to the local criminal justice system by working closely together in the new facilities, and will be able to competently manage the PFI contract into the future".

"Their contribution is clearly recognised in winning this award".

David Fairbrother, Associate Director of Turner and Townsend who worked on the project said: "We are very pleased to have helped Her Majesty's Courts Service, The Probation Service and other key stakeholders to achieve joined-up government in the local justice system".

Pat Armstrong from Nottingham NET complimented Turner and Townsend's involvement in the award winning tram project: "The Turner and Townsend team were instrumental to the successful procurement and implementation of NET Line One and their contribution has continued during the operational phase, including assisting the project with the introduction of the innovative Performance Monitoring System which is linked to the monthly availability payments for the service provided by the operator.".
