Turner and Townsend act as KPMG project manager
Turner and Townsend project manages KPMG pre-purchase of new office development at 15 Canada Square.
The RTPI Awards Judges said: "There is a very high demand for the housing in the New Gorbals".
"The overall impression is of a safe, stable, thriving, attractive and desirable area.
The regeneration has met and perhaps exceeded its aims and expectations and is being seen as a model for similar areas in Scotland and beyond".
Turner and Townsend's involvement in the project as project and cost managers goes back almost 15 years.
Director of Project Management, David Hogg reflected on his involvement: "Sustainable regeneration is much more than redevelopment".
"In the Gorbals, the community 'embeddedness' is starting to take place because of the introduction of a mixture of new private and social housing together with new businesses and community facilities".
"The project has been so successful that people are queuing to purchase properties off the plans and there is a waiting list for social rented properties".
"More importantly, however, many of the early house purchasers are buying new properties in the later phases".
"The project has successfully changed the image of the area and created a place where people now wish to live and work - this is a true example of a sustainable neighbourhood".
The judges were particularly impressed with the planned mix of tenures across the community, even mixing private and social high quality housing in the same development.
In addition, the wide range of facilities created as part of the overall masterplan, including a new public park, community centre, a hotel, offices, a supermarket and a learning resource centre, all contributed towards the New Gorbals receiving this award.
