Linburn Road Health Centre, Fife NHS Fife has announced an autumn opening for a brand new, purpose built GBP3.6 million health centre for the Eastern Expansion area of Dunfermline

Appointed by NHS Fife to provide a complete design and management service, Turner and Townsend commenced work on the commission in January 2006 acting as project manager.

Turner and Townsend is also appointed as cost manager and planning supervisor.

The Development of the new centre in Linburn Road is being led by the Dunfermline locality of the Dunfermline and West Fife Community Health Partnership (CHP), which is a collection of GPs and other health professionals delivering care to over 60,000 people in the new and existing communities of Dunfermline and Rosyth.

Colin Meharg, Senior Project Manager from Turner and Townsend, said "This project remains on schedule to produce a bespoke contemporary health centre design within a challenging delivery programme".

"It will also be an excellent example of what can be achieved in public procurement when public and private sectors work together with a clearly defined project brief".

NHS Fife's brief from the outset was for the centre to be a pleasant and functional environment, with added emphasis being placed on delivering a strong and bold element of contemporary design to correctly convey NHS Fife's civic role in adding to the urban landscape.

Marshalls Construction was appointed as the main contractor in late 2006 and remain on schedule for completion in September 2007.

Turner and Townsend has an enviable reputation in the health sector listing recent commissions including the new NHS Logistics Centre in Larkhall which is due to be opened by Andy Kerr, the Minister for Health and Community Care, on 30th March.
