Turner and Townsend appoint specialist
in Perth

International construction and management consultancy Turner and Townsend has promoted Michael Mienie to head up its operations in Perth, Western Australia A mining and process specialist, Michael started his career with Turner and Townsend in 2001 working from the Johannesburg office

A qualified quantity surveyor with particular experience in operating and managing project services and option studies, Michael worked on many projects including the Boschfontein 400KTPM Expansion Project for Anglo Platinum Mines and the TAUTONA Below 120 level Expansion Project for AngloGold Ashanti.
In Sept 2005, Michael moved to Australia to head up the Mining and Process team in Perth, under the guidance of Director Anthony Wood, with responsbility for managing various commissions including projects for prestigious clients such as Argyle, WorleyParsons, Alcoa Alumina and GRD Minproc.
Michael said: "I joined the Mining and Process field of Turner and Townsend after coming from the commercial side and was pleasantly surprised at the opportunities the move to an international consultancy has given me - not only in improving my career but also the opportunities for travel".
He continued: "I am looking forward to the challenges in my newly appointed role as Perth office manager and building upon the strength of the existing team".
"We have exciting times ahead of us as we continue to strive towards our ambition of achieving global excellence".
Within the past few years, Michael has been involved in a number of option studies estimating at an "Order of Magnitude (OME +/- 25%)" and/or "Capital Budget (CBE +/-10%)" level.
In addition, his experience in processing includes a new Refrigeration plant, the upgrading of a base metal refinery and the upgrading of the bunker/conveyor systems in a concentrator plant.
