Appointed by the DAA in January 2006, Turner and Townsend has been involved in integrating the T2 project with the other construction activity at the airport.
Turner and Townsend also has a number of staff working directly within the T2 team and they have helped steer the projectT2 through a challenging and complicated process of planning, design, tendering, and widespread stakeholder consultation, to reach this point.
"This is a very significant day for us and for the airport," says Turner and Townsend Director Mike Collings, who leads a team of 35 Turner and Townsend consultants now based on site at Dublin.

"Planning permission has been delayed slightly, but it is a testimony to the commitment of the client, the Irish government, the contractors, the airlines and all the many other parties involved in this project that we're on schedule and within budget for completion at the end of 2009".
The project has drawn on all Turner and Townsend's considerable experience and expertise in airport development all over the world - in Australia, South Africa, Malaysia, and throughout Europe.
The company is also currently involved in developments at Shannon airport in Ireland, and in a number of commissions for BAA including the imminent delivery of Terminal 5 at Heathrow.
"The work we are carrying out for the DAA at Dublin Airport is a great demonstration of the value of our global experience," says Mike Collings.
"We've been able to bring together an international team of all the talents from within the company, including David Frizell, who was formerly responsible for all capital projects at Stansted for BAA, and that's played a big part in the success of the programme to date.
"Just as importantly, we have been able to draw on the full range of services that Turner and Townsend has developed in recent years precisely to support a programme of this scale and complexity.
We know that this comprehensive capability was a major factor in our appointment by the DAA, and I'm delighted that we have been able to bring all our expertise to bear on this project, not only in areas such as cost and project management, but in design management, contract negotiation and procurement, and in a very wide spectrum of management consultancy.
We're particularly delighted to have helped achieve a Health and Safety record on this programme that is three times better than the national average".
With just over two years of construction now in progress, the major challenge for Turner and Townsend's programme managers will be to help ensure that the euro2bn Transforming Dublin Airport investment programme is delivered on time and within budget - and with minimum disruption to the continuing operations of an extremely busy international airport.
"Of course that's a considerable challenge," agrees Mike Collings, "but we know from our experience at Johannesburg and Sydney, and perhaps most relevantly at Heathrow, that it can be achieved.
Everybody on the Turner and Townsend team is driven by the inspiration of working on a project that will have such a massive positive impact on the airport, on millions of travellers, and on the country.
T2 is going to make a real difference, and we're very proud to be helping to make it happen".
