Barratt Homes use tcm ecology services
Barratt Homes are amongst the high profile companies taking up tcm's vegetation management and ecology services.
tcm announce that Britain's No.1 house builder 'Barratt Homes' are amongst the high profile companies to be taking up their services.
We are pleased to see that Barratts are taking their no.1 position and leading by example with regard to their environmental responsibilities.
tcm (Thurlow Countryside Management), a vegetation management and ecology company, are also pleased to be able to promote that they are the only company in the invasive weed industry to be researching and developing new cost effective, environmentally friendly, timely and scientific solutions for the building industry at their research facility within Cambridge Science Park! House building is one of the biggest growth areas within the construction industry with the government aiming for a house building figure of 200,000 a year by 2016.
We have recently come to realise that there is an ever increasing need for our services with house builders and have therefore increased our presence within this market by employing industry specific staff with the knowledge and experience to provide the service demanded.
The national coverage provided by our ever increasing regional offices stretching from Exeter to Edinburgh ensures that as well as being able to respond quickly to all enquiries, we can also service smaller local developers.
We can save house builders time and money as we offer an array of solutions including consultancy services as well as practical ecology services.
We have already worked with the majority of the top 10 national house builders, providing a full range of services from consultancy to guaranteed eradication of invasive weeds.
The early identification process has assisted both parties in finding both environmentally friendly and economic solutions.
tcm offers a FREE Japanese knotweed site walk over survey to house builders.
If in doubt about the presence of invasive weeds tcm can react quickly, being onsite in less than 48 hours to verify and provide a quotation for their treatment.
There are numerous invasive weeds but the Environment Agency has listed Japanese knotweed at number one.
They have recently highlighted it as a huge potential problem for developers, having the potential to cause considerable damage to properties and it is by far a greater threat to house builders than any other invasive weed.
Barratts were originally looking at a methodology involving excavation but chose tcm and their in situ (Holistic Integrated Treatment) system due to the fact that we could offer a fixed price, fixed timescale solution which is fully guaranteed without the need for ground disturbance.
The most high profile site worked on this year with Barratt Homes was Hospital Road, Bolton.
Due to the topography of the site and the presence of protected trees, a general spray solution or excavation was out of the question.
tcm were able to take control of the site and fully eradicate the Japanese knotweed infestations within 24 weeks.
tcm's Japanese knotweed services do not just include treatment in situ.
We can quickly allow a developer onto their site cost effectively.
For example, an infestation at the entrance of a site can be dug up and moved to, say, the phase 3 area.
It will still be treated onsite but allows work to be carried out on the phase 1 area at the entrance virtually immediately! We offer site specific environmental solutions and don't just cover up the problem! We recommend that developers contact us before buying a site and utilise our services.
Sometimes the cost and timings of the knotweed treatment has not been considered by the house builder.
We have enabled customers to negotiate a lower and better price when initially buying the land due to the presence of invasive weeds.
We therefore urge house builders to allow us to be first people onto the site, otherwise contractors performing activities such as soil samples have been known to unwittingly spread Japanese knotweed all over the site, therefore escalating the problem considerably (cost and time wise!).
We also provide FREE of charge invasive weed identification pocket documents which are available from the tcm marketing department.
