When Sainsbury's began developing their superstore at Beaconsfield, the Company recognised that preventing ice formation and snow accumulation on the public access ramp between the superstore and its high level parking area was of paramount importance for ensuring the safety of shoppers Tyco Thermal Controls' energy-efficient T2 electric under-surface ramp heating system was chosen as the optimum freeze protection solution for this application

Frost Protection Systems Installed In Swindon
Tyco Thermal Controls' trace-heating systems have been installed for frost protection on the external chiller and heating pipes at Swindon's new Great Western Hospital.
T2 ramp heating is a highly effective system for keeping vehicular ramps, pedestrian steps and walkways free of snow and ice.
It comprises robust self-regulating heating cables and a 'smart' control and monitoring unit with moisture, temperature and ambient sensors.
The heating cables can be cut-to-length on site for maximum flexibility and have been specially designed for embedding in the concrete or sand where they will give long life.
The combination of both moisture and temperature sensors ensures the heating is activated only when conditions demand and the cable is powered-up with just the required output to prevent the hazard.
Dual sensing is a key feature of the T2 system as it will not activate needlessly in dry atmospheric conditions - unlike systems that are triggered by temperature drop alone.
By keeping surfaces snow and ice-free, the T2 ramp heating system prevents frost damage, maintains service continuity and enhances safety around commercial and public buildings and industrial sites.
It is easy to programme, can be incorporated into building management systems (BMS) and is capable of delivering significant energy savings over conventional systems.
