Tyco Electronics introduces addition to the AMP NETCONNECT Category 6 Cabling System

AMP NETCONNECT Category 6 110X cabling system provides outstanding performance Tyco Electronics has announced an addition to their AMP NETCONNECT Category 6 copper cabling system.

The new AMP NETCONNECT Category 6 110XC (cross-connect) cabling system combines innovative design and easy installation with outstanding performance.

With this new design, the individual pairs of copper wires are isolated via a unique insert housing combination employing state-of-the-art moulding and plating techniques.

This allows the performance to exceed Category 6 component requirements for both wire-to-block and patch-cord terminations.

In addition, the system mounts in the same footprint as the standard AMP NETCONNECT 110XC cabling system, simplifying patch field design and layout.

The new AMP NETCONNECT Category 6 cabling system addition also features simple installation, the same as for the standard AMP NETCONNECT 110XC cabling system, requiring only the same extra care that any Category 6 cabling system would require.

It also uses standard labels and labelling software.

Terminating of cables can be accomplished with a standard, single-pair punch-down tool.

However, a new 4-pair tool is being designed.

Benefits of the new system include the fact that the single-pair inserts reside in plated plug and connector block housings that substantially isolate individual pairs, reducing crosstalk.

In addition, a smaller outline reduces the effect of variations in cable dress and twist, improving return loss and balance.

While the system meets Category 6 performance specifications for high-speed networks, compatibility for 25-pair cabling has been maintained for voice backbone terminations, making the system applicable for voice and data applications.

The AMP NETCONNECT Category 6 110XC cabling system mounts on standard 100-pair mounting legs and occupies the same space as the standard 110XC system, greatly reducing space requirements compared to most other Category 6 cabling systems.

Whereas other systems obtain their performance by spreading out pairs, which wastes space and can affect return loss due to greater variability in pair breakout and other factors, the new AMP NETCONNECT system eliminates this design issue.
