Raychem Heat-Tracing Systems Installed At New Raychem self-regulating heat-tracing systems, from Tyco Thermal Controls, have been employed for both hot water temperature maintenance and frost protection of cold water services at BBC Broadcast's Broadcast Centre and the BBC Media Centre (Media Village).
Preston based Processheat, a Tyco Thermal Controls' installer partner, supplied and installed the heat-tracing systems for Haden Young, the building services engineers responsible for installing and commissioning the mechanical services at the Media Village, London W12.
The hot water services in both the Broadcast Centre and the Media Centre are provided by single pipe systems required to deliver constant hot water at all points.
The Raychem hot water temperature maintenance system (HWAT) offers an intelligent and energy-efficient means of supplying hot water in office buildings and hotel rooms - without return pipes, valves or pumps.
The self-regulating heating cable is engineered for direct application on hot water pipes and has a flat construction for design and installation flexibility.
At the Media Village, Processheat installed over 4000 metres of Raychem HWAT-M heating cable along the system pipework to maintain a constant 55C water temperature throughout.
For frost protection to the exposed cold water services, including roof level chillers and mains water feeds in the basement car parks, Processheat provided Raychem Wintergard self-regulating heat-tracing systems.
Using 10w/m heating cable along small bore pipework and 26w/m heating cable on larger pipes, over 9000 metres of self-regulating heating cable has been installed ready to activate whenever the ambient temperature falls below 5C and prevent freezing.
Raychem self-regulating heating cables are ideal for a wide range of temperature maintenance applications - powering up only when necessary, to deliver heat precisely where it is needed and with just the level of output required to fulfil its function.
Tyco Thermal Controls offers the building services industry specialist heat-tracing systems for floor heating, hot water temperature maintenance, frost protection and also embedded snow melting systems for vehicular and pedestrian access ways.
