When Arup, the world's leading engineering consultancy, came to specify the critical system wiring to the fire alarms at its own new Fitzrovia HQ complex in London, it chose the Pyro-S fire performance cable system, from Tyco Thermal Controls (Pyrotenax Cables), as the optimum solution.

Pyro-S is compliant with BS5839-2002, certified by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) and has also been approved to UL2196 in a steel conduit system, where it was tested up to 1010degC and subjected to a high pressure fire hose.

Its advanced cable construction draws on the best features of all available technologies, using mica/glass taped conductors insulated with a silicone rubber to provide a dual fire barrier.

In addition to the excellent fire performance, Pyro-S cables have superior handling characteristics to benefit installers.

They are lightweight and pliable, and the zero halogen, low smoke and fume (LSF) tubular sheath is quick and easy to strip for termination, without special tools, offering significant installation time/cost savings.

Tyco Thermal Controls supplies Pyro-S cables in 100m and 500m reels, with a full range of accessories including quick-fix cable glands, clips and saddles for full system integrity.
