Raychem Floor Heating Installed At Embassy

A Raychem self-regulating electric floor heating system has been installed at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Belgrave Square, London.

Jointing Technologies, a Tyco Thermal Controls distributor partner, has supplied and installed a Raychem self-regulating electric floor heating system at the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Belgrave Square, London.

Rushmoor Mechanical Services, the mechanical contractor on a major refurbishment project at the Embassy, commissioned Jointing Technologies to provide a complete Raychem T2Reflecta system under the tiled floor of the recreation room.

This now provides all the heating in this area.

The 50m2 recreation room is serviced by four doors, has a fully glazed roof and seven windows.

A self-regulating system, T2Reflecta was the ideal choice for this environment as it provides zone power control, sensing other sources of heat and automatically adjusting output to provide more heat where it is needed most - typically adjacent to the windows and doorways.

The Raychem T2Reflecta system comprises T2Red self-regulating heating cable in combination with a pre-grooved, thermally insulated, aluminium-covered plate which minimises heat loss and provides optimum heat distribution.

It can be assembled to fit all room sizes and offers energy savings in excess of 20 per cent over the use of heating cable alone.

To establish the optimum power requirement for heating the facility and to compensate for heat loss, Jointing Technologies made accurate heat calculations for this busy area.

Based on these, it installed 500 metres of 100W/m2 self-regulating cable with Reflecta plates to deliver a highly effective and energy-efficient floor heating system.
