Raychem electric underfloor heating for Orkneys
Raychem electric underfloor heating systems are being installed at the Pier Arts Centre in Stromness, Orkney.
Raychem electric underfloor heating systems are being installed at the Pier Arts Centre in Stromness, Orkney, which is currently undergoing renovation and regeneration with an extension to link the two existing buildings, designed by architect Reiach and Hall.
This three storey arts and exhibition centre is a cultural landmark housing a collection of 20th Century exhibits charting the development of modern art in Britain, including key works by Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson and Naum Gabo.
Manufactured by Tyco Thermal Controls, the energy-efficient Raychem floor heating systems are being employed extensively at the Centre including the entrance, the galleries, lobbies and cloakroom areas.
They were specified by service engineers K.J.Tait to provide background heat in accordance with the strict parameters set for temperature control in this sensitive art museum environment.
Smith Electrical, a Tyco Thermal Controls distributor partner has supplied contractor Orkney Mechanical with 1100 metres of T2Red self-regulating heating cable for installation beneath wooden flooring and also twenty-three complete Raychem T2QuickNet power mat kits for use under the tiled and stone floor surfaces.
Both systems have been designed for quick and easy installation.
The Raychem T2Red cable offers a most effective and versatile underfloor heating solution.
This self-regulating heating cable provides zone power control, delivering just the amount of heat necessary and only where it is needed.
It is suitable for use under any traditional flooring and is the optimum electric heating solution for wooden floors as it cannot overheat, even if overlapped.
Ultra-thin Raychem T2QuickNet power mats are ideal for renovation projects as they can be installed with virtually no impact on floor height.
Supplied pre-assembled and ready to lay, they have been designed specifically by installers for installer and are supplied as a complete kit with all components required in a box.
Tyco Thermal Controls offers two power mat options - the popular 90W/m2 version and a 160W/m2 version for applications requiring higher output.
