Raychem frost protection systems for health sector
Raychem self-regulating electrical heat-tracing systems used for frost protection to exposed water service lines at Cranfield University's new health sector research and teaching facility.
Tyco Thermal Controls distributor partner, Great Yarmouth based Astec, was commissioned by the project M and E Contractor, Lorne Stewart, to provide frost protection for all exposed pipework on the rooftop and plant room areas.
Astec designed, supplied and installed Tyco Thermal Controls' energy-efficient Raychem frost protection system using Raychem AT-TS-13 thermostatic controllers to activate the heating cables whenever ambient temperatures drop below 5C.
Self-regulating heating cables will deliver just the right amount of heat and where needed to prevent the water lines from freezing.
Cranfield's new facility accommodates vital research, education and consultancy services in the health sector.
It is part of a GBP30m investment programme by the University to reinforce its position as a leader in world-class science, technology and management and was officially opened by Prof.
Sir Liam Donaldson, Chief Medical Officer for England.
