Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 15, 2007

Type A platform lift, from Platform Lift Company, provides buildings with DDA compliant design solution that doesn't effect the foundations or historic value of a property.

This DDA compliant independent platform lift is freestanding and comes complete with its own 1 hour fire rated shaft.

To suit both contemporary and traditional interiors, the Type A platform lift offers standard powder coating, stainless steel or glazed panels.

The installation of The Type A platform lift has minimal impact on the structure of a building and reduces labour costs.

Instead of digging down, the shaft can be erected by simply cutting a 50mm pit in the floor with a 3 or single phase power supply.

Safety features include, a slip resistance floor and a rigid handrail.

The Type A platform lift also has contact sensitive perimeter safety edges that stop the lift when touched.

The fire rated doors, which are partially glazed, are self-closing with a power opening option The Type A platform lift has a limited speed of just 0.15m/s and is designed to travel up 9m/5 floors carrying a rated load of 400 or 1000kgs.

Stop and alarm buttons are located within arms length to provide optimum safety for all users.
