The Pectel Group, one of the largest hazardous waste removal companies in the UK has again received accreditation from SAFEcontractor.

SAFEcontractor is a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practices amongst UK contractors.

The Pectel Group, employing 384 people throughout the UK, with a turnover of GBP30 million has held this accreditation since 2001.

Steve Haim, Safety, Quality and Environmental director said "Every year we make sure reaccreditation is achieved to show our enhanced commitment to safety".

"As we are principally involved in asbestos and hazardous waste removal, organisations will not employ our company unless we can provide evidence of our rigorous health and safety policies".

SAFEcontractor is operated by international safety, health and environmental risk management specialist, the National Britannia Group.

The system is applicable to most sectors although it is particularly relevant to property, facilities management, retail and leisure sectors, all of which are big users of contract services.

Darran Hughes, operations Director for SAFEcontractor at National Britannia said, "More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that The Pectel Group has done".

"The firm's high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies in the sector".
