Abrasives company supports Scottish industry

Tyrolit, the Austrian manufacturer of industrial grinding wheels and other abrasive consumables, has opened a service centre in Scotland.

Tyrolit, the Austrian manufacturer of industrial grinding wheels and other abrasive consumables, has opened a service centre in Scotland in the shadow of the Ibrox stadium, home to Rangers football club.

Located at Unit 1, Invergyle Court, Ibrox Business Park, Glasgow, (tel 0141 445 4459), the depot is run by Steve Amabile and his father, Bill, assisted by John Duncan.

A subsidiary of the Swarovski group, world-famous for its faceted crystal figurines and jewellery, Tyrolit was delighted that a member of the executive board, Christoph Gerin-Swarovski, was able to open the Glasgow premises officially on Friday 28th October 2005, in the presence of UK staff and Scottish customers.

A large selection of standard wheels, abrasive discs for cutting and grinding, diamond blades and wires are stocked at Glasgow for prompt delivery to customers in Scotland.

Less frequently used products and specials continue to be available directly from the UK headquarters in Crick, Northamptonshire.

In addition, representative machines from the company's Hydrostress range of wall and wire sawing machines, flat sawing and core drilling machines are for the first time on permanent display north of the border, and are available for demonstration.

Commented John Willis, Managing Director of Tyrolit , "Our biggest customer in the area is Rolls-Royce, whose new turbine factory at nearby Inchinnan uses thousands of our wheels every year for grinding stator and compressor blades, seals and segments.

"We are very pleased to be able to provide this flagship British manufacturer as well as other firms in Scotland with improved local service and technical back-up.

We are also keen to increase our penetration into other industry sectors including construction and distribution.".
